Q: Does BaseToolbox upload the workbook?

No. Parsing, grouping, filename handling, persistence, and exports all run in your browser. File contents do not enter BaseToolbox analytics.

Q: Can I split a CSV by customer, region, or status?

Yes. Choose any imported column and the tool creates one part for each distinct non-empty value plus a separate blank group when needed.

Q: What happens when two group values create the same filename?

Filenames are sanitized and compared case-insensitively. Collisions receive stable suffixes such as -2 so one part never overwrites another.

Q: Can the split workspace survive a refresh?

Normally yes when persistent browser storage is available. Clearing site data, private browsing, or browser storage eviction can remove saved sources.

The source file, selected column, split parts, and export manifest stay in your browser and are excluded from BaseToolbox analytics. Persistent browser storage is used when available.

Current limitations

CSV, TSV, and modern XLSX are supported; legacy .xls, macros, and desktop-Excel formula recalculation are not.
Column-value splitting uses the displayed cell value exactly after Unicode normalization and trimming; it does not merge similar spellings.
CSV files in the ZIP contain values rather than executable formulas. Review downstream formatting and workbook-specific features after export.
Browser storage may be cleared or reclaimed, and private browsing may not retain the source or split workspace.
